1. Explain how and why positionality matters for those working in hazards and disaster contexts.

2. Understand how reflecting on positionality can improve disaster research and practice.

Lesson 3: Tools and Activities for Considering Positionality 

1. Access specific tools and activities that researchers and practitioners can use to explore their positionality in relation to their work.

2. Recognize the importance of understanding how one’s diverse identities influence hazards and disaster work. 

Lesson 4: Strategies and Opportunities for Considering Positionality  

1. Review strategies for thinking about positionality in hazards and disaster research and practice. 

2. Identify individual and institutional opportunities to strengthen and support discussions of positionality across disciplines in hazards and disaster research and practice.
